I'm some stain there on your bedsheet, You're my diamond in the rough.

After another sleepless night this week, I was tuned into VH1 and saw the new Paolo Nutini single called Candy. Its a heartbreaking love song, my favorite. I also love the music video, its a sweet little love story. I have been a Nutini fan since New Shoes came out a few years ago. Listen to the new single, watch the video, read the lyrics and enjoy.

I was perched outside in the pouring rain
Trying to make myslef a-sail
Then i'll float to you my darlin'
With the evening on my tail

Although not the most honest means of travel
It gets me there nonetheless
I'm a heartless man at worst, babe
and a helpless one at best

Darling I'll bathe your skin
I'll even wash your clothes
Just give me some candy
Before i go

Oh, darling I'll kiss your eyes
and lay you down on your rug
Just give me some candy
After my hug

Oh, and i'm often found explaining
But to her it plays out all the same
and although i'm left defeated
It get's held against my name

I know you got plenty to offer, baby
But I guess I've taken quite enough
While I'm some stain there on your bedsheet
You're my diamond in the rough

Darling I'll bathe your skin
I'll even wash your clothes
Just give me some candy
Before i go

Oh, darling I'll kiss your eyes
And lay you down on your rug
Just give me some candy
After my hug

I know that the writing's on the wall

But darlin' I'll bathe your skin
I'll even wash your clothes
Just give me some candy
Before i go

Oh, darlin il kiss your eyes
and lay you down on your rug
Just give me some candy
After my hug

Oh, and I'll be there waiting for you
Know that I'll be there waiting for you
Oh, I'll be there waiting for you
Oh, I'll be there waiting for you
Oh, I'll be there waiting for you

Oh, I'll be there waiting for you
I'll be there waiting for you
Oh, then I'll be there waiting on you
I'll be there waiting for you
I'll be there waiting for you....

All they do is keep me waiting and waiting

But please don't talk about murder while I'm eating.

Buzzing - Ben Harper

I first saw Ben in a Jack Johnson music video playing a slide guitar. I had never seen a slide guitar so I did a little research and found Mr. Harper along with his whole library of music. The only way I can describe Ben's music is "funky-folk", he is kind-of a mix between Jack Johnson and Michael Franti. No only is Ben a solo act but he also creates tunes with The Innocent Criminals and Relentless7. Both Sides Of The Gun, Lifelines and Live From Mars are my three favorite albums from Mr. Harper. Much like Michael Franti, Harper writes/sings about social injustices and peace. Check out the video below for Morning Yearning, it was directed by the late Heath Ledger, the song is beautiful. Enjoy :)

I slept with Marilyn she sung me “Happy Birthday”

Buzzing - Michael Franti

I'll never forget the first time I heard Michael Franti and fell in love with him. It was 2004 and I was working at Joann Fabrics, one of the girls I worked with played his album , Songs From The Front Porch, while we cleaned the back room...I love it. Mr. Franti blends rock, pop, reggae, folk and funk all in one CD sized package. When Franti is not doing his solo acoustic thing he teams with Spearhead to blend his style with a full band. The thing I like most about Michael is that he sings about things others may be afraid to put music to; peace, social injustice and corrupt government. Another lil tid bit about Mr. Franti is that HE IS A VEGAN!!! Enjoy :)

Key Tracks: Stay Human, Ganga Babe, Oh My God

You'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking.

Buzzing - In Rainbows

This post has been a long time coming. Radiohead is absolutely one of the best bands ever. The first time I heard this album was on vinyl and I have come to the conclusion that it is the only way to listen to In Rainbows. From beginning to end the album is flawless. The alt-rock band lead by Thom York probably has the most unique sound in the music industry right now. One of the greatest things about this album is that it is a completely independant project from the creation of each song to the unique marketing and distrubution methods.

Key Tracks: 15 Step, Weird Fishes, All I Need

Lick your sticky fingers boy and sing for your dinner sing.

Its been four long years...but the wait was well worth it. This album is one of the best Dave albums that I have ever heard. I love this band, they teeter between #1 and #2 on my list of top bands, they win the battle with John Mayer on occasion. The thing I like most about this album is how fresh it is. It is weird because after giving all the songs a listen they have the same ol' Dave flavor but they leave a new after taste. The album was inspired by the sudden death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore hence the album's title GrooGrux King, it was the nickname of the late Moore.

Key Tracks: Lucky the Way It Is, Shake Me Like a Monkey, You and Me

Like the Andy Griffith theme song...

Buzzing - Drake

Heard Drake in my guy's car a few weeks ago and I finally found some of his mixtapes online. The first song I heard was "Best I Ever Had" and I loved it. Aubrey Drake Graham is from Ontario Canada and starred on Degrassi which I thought was really interesting. His character Jimmy does not correspond with his music at all. This boy from Canada is now mingling with the self-proclaimed best rapper in the world, Lil Wayne. The lyrics that got me were " Sweat pants, hair tied, chilling with no make up on, Thats when your the prettiest, I hope that you don take it wrong" from the track Best I Ever Had.

Ben Gibbard is slowly breaking my heart into tiny little pieces.

Buzzing - The Postal Service

The Postal Service is the brainchild of Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel. The collaboration is so unique because Jimmy would create the instrumentals and then send the rough copies to Ben so he could record vocals and finalize the instrumentals. The guys used the United States Postal Service to send the work back and forth so evetually they convinced the USPS to allow them to use the name. Like I have posted before, I am a huge Death Cab for Cutie fan so I think it is just natural that I also fell in love with The Postal Service. This band is just a little bit more electronic and abstract but that is what is so appealing about them. I recommend this record on Vinyl because it comes with an extra record with some fun covers.

One of my favortie lyrics of all time comes off of this album. The track is Clark Gable and the line goes: "
I kissed you in a style Clark Gable would have admired, I thought it classic"

Key Tracks: Clark Gable, Sleeping In, Such Great Heights
