That Funky Monkey

Buzzing - Brass Monkey

So a couple of weeks ago I did a little research and realized that one of OE's nicknames is Brass Monkey...thank you urbandictionary.com. Apparently a Brass Monkey is a cocktail where you drink down to the label and then add orange juice. Unfortunately for Floridians, we can't have an official Brass Monkey because a 40 of OE is not available on this inferno of a peninsula.

Anyway, the reason I am bringing this up is because the geniuses who are the Beastie Boys have a song about the drink. Brass Monkey, that funky Monkey, Brass Monkey junkie, That funky Monkey.

Thinkin my heart don't got nothing to do with my penis...

Buzzing - John Legend

Of course this really isn't anything new but I felt the need to put a little light on Mr. Legend. The debut album, Get Lifted, is definitely on my top five favorite albums. I just remember seeing the video for his first single, Ordinary People, his voice and style was so unique. The reason that I love this album so much is because unlike most albums this one tells a story from beginning to end. The trick to this album is that you have to listen to the album from front to back to get a full picture of the story that John is trying to tell. The story told is the entire span of a relationship, from good to bad and back again.

Key Tracks: Alright, Number One, Ordinary People

Cupid's Acoustic Arrow

Buzzing - Even Now (Acoustic)

I have never been a huge Valentines Day person...I mean the only guy who ever buys me flowers for Valentines Day is my Dad. My Dad was here at 8 a.m. this morning with a delivery of flowers and a card. Anyway, as soon as I warmed up my laptop this morning I saw that the incredible Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional had a new song up called Even Now (Acoustic). Its great and it is the perfect Valentines Day song even if you are bitter.

Every Waking Moment

Citizen Cope

The Clarence Greenwood Recordings

Buzzing - Citizen Cope

Although Cope has been floating around making music since 1998, most people still have not heard of him. I first heard "Son's Gonna Rise" in a Pontiac commercial in 2005 and I have been a fan ever since. I saw him live last summer at the House of Blues and he was amazing. I am going to see him again next week and I can't wait.
